Footnote: Following the second world war, the ERP (European Recovery Programme) launched the poster competition throughout Europe on the theme of cooperation and economic recovery, a panel of twelve artists, each representing a different Marshall Plan country, served as judges. The winning entry, entitled ‘All colours to the mast’ depicted a sailing ship with flags from each country making up the sails.
