Charles Francis Annesley Voysey (1857-1941) pair of Arts & Crafts oak single head and foot boards (4 bed ends). Provenance: by descent from the estate of the late Herbert John Claridge-Turner (1910-1978), a Cheltenham resident. They were commissioned by Sydney Claridge-Turner, the secretary and general manager of the Essex & Suffolk Equitable Insurance Company. Voysey designed and fully furnished Turner's weekend home, The Homestead at Frinton on Sea (please see attached photographs including two drawings of the bed design held at the RIBA Drawings Archive at the V&A Musuem). From the same estate came a pair of Voysey chairs sold in the Cirencester saleroom by the Cotswold Auction Company for £16,500 in March 2020.
