IRELAND 1829 (6 Jun) EL from Calcutta to Edinburgh with a very fine upright strike of the rare "IRISH / SHIP LETTER" also a 'Missent to London' hand stamp, various date stamps and a red wax 'Generals Office Accountant' seal alongside. As the Irish Post Office was a separate entity any letters arriving at Ireland but addressed to the UK were required to be identified by use of this hand stamp, of which only 5 (including this) are known.
