A Georgian 18ct gold snuff box with engine turned decoration, floral edge, the lid bearing inscription 'presented to Captain Lucas Percival, commanding the ship Abberton by the passengers that sailed with him from Bombay in 1825, as a small testimony of their sense of his liberal conduct and kindness' - Sheffield 1831, makers marks for John Linnet - 3in. x 2in. x 3/4in.

Captain Lucas Percival commanded the Abberton from 1818 - 1828 for the East India Company. Gifted by Douglas Williams a Reuters War correspondent to the Soares family in the British Virgin Islands in 1975
