Approximately 30 football programmes from the 1950s and 60s, many involving Pompey; and other ephemera and images of Portsmouth. This lot includes centenary souvenir supplements and a calendar for The News in 1977; a Charles Dickens’ birthplace litho, view of Broad Street from the sea and various copies of Portsmouth prints (see photos); a GB v France men’s athletics programme from Portsmouth in 1971; and the soccer programmes (see 2nd photo for a selection). These include a 1965 TSV Munchen 1860 v West Ham European Cup Winners’s Cup Final programme featuring Moore, Hurst and Peters; a 1968 Benfica v Man Utd European Champions Clubs Cup Final (one of the finest hours of the late Sir Bobby Charlton); a 1959 England v Italy international at Wembley; 1959 Accrington Stanley v Portsmouth (including Jimmy Dickinson and Ron Saunders); a 1950 Arsenal v Pompey Division One match; Burnley v Pompey in 1958/9; Bury v Pompey in 1957; a 1958 Wolves v Pompey FA Cup 4th round tie (the first meeting in the competition between the sides since the ’39 Cup Final); and a rare (although torn) FA Cup 4th Round 2nd replay at Highbury between Scunthorpe and Pompey in 1954. A number of the programmes have creases, folds and other faults such as loose pages.
