1981 Lancia Beta Spyder
The Lancia Beta (Type 828) was an entry-level luxury car produced by Italian car manufacturer Lancia from 1972 to 1984. It was the first new model introduced by Lancia after it had been taken over by Fiat in 1969. The two-door convertible called the Spyder featured 2+2 seating. In brochures Lancia spelt the name with a "y" rather than an "i" possibly to differentiate the car from the Alfa Romeo Spider.
The Spyder used the coupé's shorter wheelbase and featured a targa top roof panel, a roll-over bar and folding rear roof. Early models did not have a cross-member supporting the roof between the tops of the A to B Pillars. Later models had fixed cross-members. It was initially powered by either the 1600 or 1800 twin-cam engine, later being replaced by the new 1.6 and 2.0. The Spyder was designed by Pininfarina but actually built by Zagato.
This example is described by the vendor as being in mint condition, with no rust what so ever. It is a two owner car with 50,000 miles on the clock, and it is said to run beautifully. The car has been recently imported from Johannesburg, where it has been since new, hence the fact it has never suffered from any rust. Not a penny is needed to spent on this beautiful and rare car.
