A pair of Victorian Royal Forester’s ceremonial halberds, blued steel heads with tubular sockets, the flat spear points engraved and gilt with a crest in the form of a demi lion on a torse holding a shield with hunting horn, above a scroll with motto “Diligentia et Honore” and engraved below this “William Garnett”, one dated 1843, the other 1843 over 1879, mounted on their hafts with three rows of tassels, 100” overall. GC (the heads with some light surface rust, the gilt faint. Note: The crest is that of William Garnett of Quernmore Park and Bleasdale Tower, who was a JP and Master Forester of Her Majesty’s Forest of Bleasdale.
