A third quarter 19th century wood fan with painted silk leaf, the monture painted in gold, carved, the leaf quite surreal in presentation, with winged cherubs frolicking in a field by the light of a new moon, two others regarding the heavens, the scene bordered in oversized hearts of flower petals in deep pink, a shiny spider’s web to the upper left, and to each corner, the verso of plain butterscotch silk, guard approx. 27cm; together with a fan of a similar period with gold painted pierced wood sticks, this time mounted with black silk satin, embroidered with gold spangles of various shapes, guar approx. 27cm (2)
Some rubbing to the gold paint. The verso appears discoloured.
