A cerise c 1860’s two-piece ballgown, the silk gauze with an additional tier, lined in cream glazed cotton, rear closure with hooks and eyes, the bodice of pleated gauze, boned, trimmed with cream machine lace tinged with colour, and an edging of Valenciennes bobbin lace to the interior, a pleated cream panel to the waist, short-sleeved with ruffles, edged with coloured braid; together with another bodice of the same period, of cream silk satin, and pleated net, applied with coloured, floral trimming and cream machine lace (3)
