A Victorian gilt metal wheel seal, mid 19th century, the ornate gilt metal rotating wheel set with six different motto intaglios, mounted on a facet cut yellow paste handle, 10cm long overall
The wheel rotates smoothly, however the mount appears to be slightly distorted, with the result that the axle doesn't go all the way through the support hole on one side. Because of this, the axle will pop out of the hole on occasion. The intaglios show fine surface scratching and wear commensurate with age and use. Some show small patches of residue on the surface. The handle shows fine surface scratching throughout commensurate with age and use, and would benefit from cleaning.
