RARE TYPE 1 CARD EX "P.O.W. CAMP, KUCHING, SARAWAK" DAMAGED IN IRISH AIR CRASH; Battered & stained Jan. 1943 small-margins Type 1 "IMPERIAL JAPANESE ARMY" card from "A.C.[?] FRANK HOWE" in "P.O.W. CAMP, KUCHING, SARAWAK" to an English(?) address; Tett only records 4 POW usages of this Type 1 card and does not record this example. Exceptional survivor; Nierinck 430728 was the wreck of a BOAC flying boat near Dublin en route from Lisbon; it is recorded as having carried 30,000 letters & POW cards but only 2,570 items survived.
