AN EAST AND WEST AFRICA MEDAL 1892 WITH GAMBIA 1894 CLASP TO A CASUALTY ABOARD H.M.S. MAGPIE. An East and West Africa Medal named to A.W. Badge A.S. H.M.S. Magpie. Able Seaman Alfred W. Badge is recorded, on the 23rd February 1894, as receiving a bullet wound to his right forearm in action against the Fodi Silah whilst serving aboard H.M.S. Magpie at Mandina Creek, River Gambia. This is one of only 48 such clasps issued to the gunboat H.M.S. Magpie. Mounted for display with copied research.
