A rare wooden rushlight holder, made completely in oak, and signed by the maker, Shropshire/Montgomeryshire borders, circa 1850
Having a plain cleft stick lever-action holder, with pin-hinge, the flat-top and 'facetted conical base stamped W G Bound to underside, height 24.5cm

The author notes wooden rushlight holders of any form very rarely survive, compared to forged examples they are more easily broken or discarded as worthless, few examples remain
