Provenance: This, and many other lots in this and subsequent sales, are from the private library of the late Maurice Cole, a distinguished Northumberland-based collector over many years with a specialist interest in English, particularly northern, local history, topography and genealogy.
Overall a fine book but foxing, spotting & browning to some leaves.
Morocco and gilding good, very slight rubbing to spine and edges of boards. 3 cuts to front marble endpaper, the largest approx. 2 1/2". Sporadic foxing, browning and offsetting throughout, the worst being towards the front and back of the book, with middle section relatively clean. Light foxing on gilt fore edge. Very light pencil lines in margins of preface. Slight chipping to edges of back endpapers and slight wear to folds of map. As images.
