1899 (Sep 17) Large (255x205mm) printed "The Governor of the Cape of Good Hope" O.H.M.S cover to England, signed "A.L Godley, Maj + Adjt, Protectorate Regt", with Mafeking squared circle and red "OFFICIAL-PAID". An unusual cover accepted as officially paid although the franking privilege only extended to mail addressed within the Cape, sent less than four weeks before the siege of Mafeking by Major Alexander Godley, who was Adjutant to Col. Baden-Powell during the siege, vertical fold, otherwise fine.
