Publisher's original full cloth binding with unclipped dust wrapper, dw illustration of green motor car 6 by Chadwick, age-toning to dw with some light wear to extremities, odd scuff to rear board, light chipping to head and tail of the spine. No prior owner's inscriptions, signed by Hawthorn to half title, illustrated with black and white photographs. A scarce signed first edition of Hawthorn's autobiography; the author died tragically in a road accident the year following publication, just months after announcing his retirement. 8vo.
