ANTHONY REDMILE, LONDON, A RARE CONVEX OCTAGONAL WALL MIRROR, CIRCA 1970.
With a polished aluminium frame and inset shards of horn surrounding a convex mirror.

Anthony Redmile burst into the London interior design scene in the 1960s, producing some of the most eclectic items for his illustrious clients. Selling from his shop at 73 Pimlico Road in the 1960s and 1970s, designer J. Antony Redmile was inspired by the eclectic collecting of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. He was best known for his extravagant designs that stood out through his use of unusual materials such as antler horn, ostrich eggs, sea shells, cow horn and bone in his furniture. House and Garden magazine once described him as 'the most original, prolific and fantastical designer in Britain.' His clients included Rod Stewart, Princess Margaret, Jacqueline Onassis and Joan Collins. He even designed the objects d'art for the cruise ship, Norway.
This item exemplifies Redmile's work. Typically we see octagonal frames surrounding octagonal mirrors but having a convex mirror certainly sets this item apart and is a wonderful piece for any interior.
