A pair of bronze barrelled and bronze framed flintlock boxlock blunderbuss pistols, by (Robert) Wheeler, c 1800, 12½” overall, barrels 6¾”, with Tower private proofs, 6” spring bayonets beneath the barrels released by sliding trigger guards, and with ramrod ramps on left side with ivory tipped whale bone ramrods with worms; the frames engraved with trophies and garter star and signed in foliate elliptical panels; plain walnut slab butts with oval silver escutcheons, one of the butts stamped with numbers “59” and “208”.
