A rare George I/II pewter Scots-pint lidded pot-bellied measure, Inverness, circa 1720-40

With incised lines to domed-lid, neck and lower part of bulbous body, the single-curve handle with English-type solid chairback thumbpiece, and hooded ball terminal, engraved ownership initial triad, cast maker's mark inside base of Lachlan Dallas, Inverness, (fl.1720-1753), (PS2696), 61.6 fl.oz., height 26.7cm

Provenance: Major General J. C. Latter Collection, sold 27 September 1972, York  (£67, sold with receipt), having originally been bought by his father (in Inverness) in 1906. Thence Frank Holt Collection
