U.S. PRESIDENTIAL LETTERS: A collection of letters addressed to Pearl Wight, Member Progressive National Committee 1912-16, representing Presidents Roosevelt & Taft. 1. Signed, typed letter from President T. Roosevelt dated 6th. April 1908 thanking P. Wight for Mrs. Roosevelts visit. 2. Typed signed letter from Roosevelt to Wight dated 18th. April. 1908 '... I am very sorry that it is not possible for you to send any colored man from Louisiana. I did my best to get New York State to send a colored man as a delegate at large and succeeded in having him sent as an alternate at large.' 3.Typed signed letter from Roosevelt to Wight dated 24th. Dec. 1908 thanking him for his friendship, support and kindness with a handwritten Xmas greeting. 4. Typed signed letter from President Taft to Wight dated 23rd. July 1909 'It is always an encouragement to have letters like yours... when one is in a chaos of uncertainty and attack'.
