A Grenadier Guards officer’s sword, slender, straight, fullered blade 32½”, by Wilkinson, no 18644 (for 1872) on backstrap, etched with crowned, reversed and interlaced VR cypher, wreath and 5 battle honour scrolls “Lincelles” to “Waterloo” on one side, and on the other crown, Grenade, wreath and 3 scrolls “Alma”, “Inkerman” and “Sevastopol” with blank escutcheon on the other, pierced steel 1895 pattern hilt incorporating crowned VR cypher, plain pommel and chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip.
