1899 QSA 3 clasps Talana, Defence of Ladysmith, Transvaal to 18182 Dr J. Brown 69:B R.F.A. and 1914-15 Star trio to 14512 B.Q.M.Sjt J. Brown R.A. (Bmbr R.F.A. on Star) very fine. He was wounded slightly at Ladysmith 11/01/00. With copied casualty roll and medal roll, this marked invalided to England 14/7/00. With 5 copied pages of service record and 2 x MIC, Joseph Brown attested 20/1/97, served South Africa 1897 to 1900, discharged 19/1/13, re-enlisted 14/8/14 stating former service in RFA No 18182, landed Egypt 7/3/15, promoted BQMS 6/6/15, to France 7/8/16, discharged physically unfit 16/4/18. There is also records for another John Brown with the same number, but he remained a Gunner throughout WW1. (R)
