'1st Buckingham Palace' Girl Guide Badges (4) c1940's. Belonged to Florence Constance Fielding (daughter of Major Fielding, Comptroller of Royal Mews). Consigned by the family.  Consists of three embroidered cloth shoulder badges including troop name, Palace insignia, Kingfisher Patrol patch and gilt brass Girl Guide scarf badge. Also copy of 'Royal Guides by VM Synge 1948 which includes possible images of Florence Fielding. The 1st Buckingham Palace Guides was active from 1937-1944 and consisted of approximately 20 Royal Princesses and daughters of the Royal Staff to allow the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret to experience the Guiding movement. Princess Elizabeth was leader of the Kingfisher troop. The 1st Buckingham Palace Guides was later revived in the late 1950's for a few years to allow Princess Ann to also become a Girl Guide.
