A gilt bronze Regency grand tour inkstand of sarcophagus form. With applied Egyptian motifs, four ring handles, ceramic and blue glass inserts on twin pedestal supports, height 8cm, width 21cm depth 10cm. The white ceramic liner is cracked and crazed, the blue glass example is cracked and chipped, the third liner is presumably missing. The whole piece is generally discoloured and marked and the internal metal fittings are rusty, one of the ring handles swivels on its mount.
