This copper plate engraving of West View of Richmond &c. in Surry from the Star and Garter on the Hill, engraved by Charles Grignion after the artist Augustin Heckel. Published by: Laurie & Whittle, 53 Fleet Street, London 1794.

The engraving was printed by John Bowles.

Augustin Heckel (1690-1770), was born in Augsburg, Germany but died in Richmond, where he had retired in 1746. He was born to a family of goldsmiths and was himself an engraver, artist and draughtsman.

Grignion was born in London to Huguenot refugees and became a prolific engraver and book illustrator.

Size: 10in x 15.25in (25.3cm x 38.8cm).

The print is in excellent condition - please inspect the image carefully for any age related marks
