TARTAN; Fine 16 May 1849 EL from "Bermuda" (quartermaster of 42nd Regiment ref. a new design of tartan that had been proposed and asking for samples) to Stirling with a mainly fine rare red 2-ring "PAID/AT/HAMILTON, BERMUDA" Crowned Circle (slightly overstruck by the London transit PAID d.s.) on the front with red crayon "1/-" rate, also having a mainly very fine large red "HAMILTON/+BERMUDA+" cds on the top flap.
