A LATE 18TH/ EARLY 19TH CENTURY AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN SEWING ETUI. of tapering form, with faceted sides and engraved & chased decoration, unscrewing in several sections to reveal a needle case & thimble, struck with two indistinct duty marks, together with a trick-opening vesta case, inscribed, a caddy spoon in the form of a jockey cap, an engraved toothpick box, a compact decorated with an enamel hunting scene and a mounted tortoiseshell dressing table box, mixed makers & dates; the latter box 3" (7.6cm) high; 5ozt (5).
All pieces with wear & in mixed conditions, the foot of the etui has been repaired. Enamel on the compact damaged in a couple of areas.
