RARE "Alexandrie" MARK ON OFFICIAL MILITARY LETTER TO CAIRO; Fine c.1800 E from "L. G[enera]l. Treau[?]" addressed to the Adjutant General in Cairo sent free as an official letter (hence the sender's authorising signature at bottom left of address) with a mainly very fine strike of the rare upper-and-lower-case "Alexandrie" mark (recorded only July 1799 to Oct. 1800) on the front. This was the only town during the Napoleonic Occupation of Egypt to use the mixed type mark. [c.f.
