Prospective tin trade to Asia, 1790. George Unwin (Purser in His Majesty’s Navy, and Late in the East India Company’s Service). 'Letters, Remarks &c With a View to Open an Extensive Trade in the Article of Tin from the County of Cornwall to India, Persia and China,' first edition, 44 pages, original tree calf boards, ex libris of George Croker Fox (1752-1807), printed by W amd J Stratford, Holborn Hill, London, 1790. This work was privately printed and dedicated ‘’to the proprietors of tin mines in the County of Cornwall’’. Two thick board pages at the back of the book are reserved for two tin samples, these are missing as always. One sample page is for tin from ‘Banca’ island (which in fact is Bangka Island, Indonesia) and the second page is for ‘Cornish’ Tin. The reason for these two samples is to prove to the Chinese customers that cornish tin has a higher silver content, therefore is easier to work. A very good copy with the contents being fine. A scarce work.
