The Clift family of Cornwall (two sisters and four brothers) were born in the latter half of the 18th century in Bodmin. William became apprenticed to the great 18th century surgeon, John Hunter, in Lincoln Inn’s Fields, London. Upon his death, Clift became the first conservator to his biological collection. Frances Austin, Robert Clift of Bodmin - Able Seaman,1790-1799. 1983, first edition. Robert was the younger brother of William and this is his story. Dedicated to those who lost and risked their lives in the Falkland Islands Campaign, 1982. A fine copy.
