Sven BERLIN (1911-1999) The Dark Monarch, 1962, first edition, signed and inscribed and dated by the author. Cataloguers Note - The original publication of this work by Berlin sparked significant controversy, leading to numerous libel cases that ultimately necessitated its withdrawal. As a result, only a few copies remain in existence today. The book contains a series of thinly disguised character critiques of prominent figures from the St Ives art scene, including Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon.
