1660 (Oct 16) Entire letter from the Guildhall, London, sent by the Commissioners for Disbanding the Army, addressed "To the high sheriff of the county of Derby, for his maties officiall service, post paid". The letter concerns the raising of money to pay off the Cromwellian army, and is signed by three Privy Councillors, Wheeler, Richard Browne (Lord Mayor of London) and Thomas Player (Chamberlain of London). A fine historical letter, postage paid despite the official contents and inscription on the address panel. Photo on Page 30.
