A Spode plate circa 1805, depicting a Grosbeak bird upon a log in a forest surround, the hexagonal border with relief moulded detail and hand painted feathers on a sage green ground with gilt highlighted border, painted factory mark and title verso and pattern ‘2059’, 23.5cm wide
The piece shows surface wear and fine scratching throughout. The gilding around the well has been rubbed off between 7 o'clock and 9 o'clock and heavily rubbed between 6 o'clock and 7 o'clock and 9 o'clock and 10 o'clock. There is further rubbing to the gilt around the rim (heavy on the corners). The bird shows a scratch approximately 6mm long to the neck. There is a glazing fault to the rim just above 3 o'clock, and further small glazing faults across the piece.
