Charlestown, Cornwall Historic photos of life within the village Including cooperage workers making casks for china clay; lower clay dry with men cutting the hardened clay into blocks, c.1900; balmaidens scraping blocks of china clay clean; Pier House Hotel with a local fleet of thirteen Foden vehicles which carried and exported china clay; a German motor coaster entering Charlestown inner basin to load clay, with less than half a metre clearance either side c.1980; a three-masted Brigantine in the inner dock for film making, 1982; nine Charlestown estate employees given film parts as extras', Charlestown cliff rescue team in 1910 with Breeches Buoy apparatus cart behind; together with other photographs and ephemera related to the port, most with annotations.
