Sold with an original photograph of the recipient. Stanley Victor Chadwick was born in Elmesthrofie, Leicestershire, on the 22nd of March 1892. At the time of the 1911 census, he was living with his family in Morecambe, Lancashire and was working as an assistant to a photographer.



During the Great War, he served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps in Salonika, arriving there on the 20th of November 1915. He rose to the rank of Temporary Sub Conductor by the end of the war and was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal, gazetted on the 30th of January 1919.



At the time of the 1939 census, Victor worked as an accountant and lived in Hampshire. When WW2 broke out, he was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. He served at home for the duration of the war.



Victor passed away in 1973.
