Extremely Rare Baker Rifle Converted To Take A Socket Bayonet
16 bore, 7 groove, 30 1/4 inch, rifled, browned barrel. Front blade foresight. Side bayonet lug removed and stud fitted to the bottom of the barrel. Rear, flip up V sight. Military lock plate with line edge engraving. Crowned GR cypher and tang marked "Tower". Ring neck flint cock. Steel frizzen. Polished, full stock woodwork with side cheek piece. Butt with stamped issue mark and "B.O" broad arrow. Rectangular, brass patchbox. Brass butt plate stamped "F51". Oval, brass escutcheon, side plate, double trigger guard, two ramrod pipes and end cap. Steel ramrod. Together with its extremely rare, matching socket bayonet. 16 3/4 inch, triangular form blade with hollow ground rear flats. Forte with maker "Woolley" and Ordnance stamps. Steel shoulder and socket. Single locating slot with swivel locking ring. Socket engraved "F51" matching number. Complete in black leather scabbard with lower brass stud and brass frog stud.
This was the 1815 pattern Baker converted to take socket bayonets. Woolley only made 350 bayonets.
