16th Queens Lancer's senior NCO's lance cap circa 1914. Good scarce example. Black patent leather body, peak and crown top with ornate gilt metal fleur bosses to each corner. Between the skull and mortar board, black ribbed cloth with band og gold lace with cental crimson silk line. Front bears regimental post 1905 brass triangular fluted plate displaying Boer War honours. Lion head bosses support brass and leather-backed chin chain. Bullion cord boss with red wool backed regimental button to centre supports a black horsehair plume mounted in metal plume holder. Leather lining with issue date 1914 to the interior. Good clean condition minor stitching faults to the leather of the chinchain. GC Gordon Dine Collection
