John Sell Cotman (1782 - 1842), ' St Mary's Abbey, York', signed and titled, pencil sketch, a typed label verso reads 'This drawing is mounted on stiff paper and has two sepia reed pen lines drawn round which were done by the artist before he put them in his sale of drawings at Christie's May 1842. Ex collection Sir William Douglas who gave it to his brother in law, F. G. Cotman, circa 1889', exhibited at the Art of the Seven Cotmans, 1942. 37.3cm x 26.5cm The Cotman family collection.
