Howard Barron (1900 - 1991), British / Australian, Oil on canvas, Portrait of a distinguished gentleman, Signed lower right. 32'' x 25'' Howard Barron was commissioned to paint two portraits of Winston Churchill. W.S.C. also commissioned Barron to paint many portraits of noble people. Studied in the UK with H. A. Rigby, Sir Will Ashton and Middleton Todd. Commissions in his later years include portraits of the Lord Mayors of London, Sir Frank Newson, Dame Nellie Melba (PostH) which was presented to Sir Robert Menzies and hangs in the main hall of Australia House, London & H. M. Queen Elizabeth for the Royal Air Force.
