AN 1821 PATTERN ROYAL ARTILLERY OFFICERS SWORD BY LINNEY OF LONDON.
With an 84cm slightly curved pointed and partially fullered blade etched with VR beneath a Crown, cannon and flaming grenade amongst scrolling foliage, the other side with crown and winged Royal Artillery device, with owners initials R.W.J (?) and crest of a spur between wings, the blade marked for J & G Linney 25 Regent Street, London, the proof mark with initials JGL. The open three bar steel guard with fish skin grip bound with wire, stepped oval pommel and decorated backstrap. In a steel scabbard with twin rung suspension, 99cm overall.
