Rigging A 7" dead-eye Deadeye recovered from the wreck of 'Gypsy', a famous clipper that often competed with the Cutty Sark. The Gypsy bound from Chile to Falmouth, was caught in a severe gale which drove her past Falmouth, the Captain, mistaking the lights of Whitsand Bay for those of Plymouth, allowed her to come too close to shore and she was stranded at Downderry on 7* December 1901.
