Victorian Royal Navy Mess No 43 earthenware plate. Young Head pattern. Blue and white transfer decoration with hand painted numbers. No makers mark. This pattern was used from the 1880's. Recovered from Portsmouth Harbour in the 1980's by the vendor while scuba diving with the Army. 238mm in diameter.
Glazed have crazing. One crack.
