18th Century Bound Volume of Russian origin with elaborate blind stamp with elaborate blind stamped decoration with religious iconography. Folio.. Inscribed "Found in a Church in Sevastopol on the 10th of September, 1855, T Costello, Surgeon, R.N." T.M. Costello, was a surgeon in the Royal Navy and served in the Crimean War, October 1853 to February 1856. Costello contributed to the government report in 1855-56 on 'the proceedings of the Sanitary Commission' and was dispatched to the seat of war in the East, 1855-56'. The page edges are decorated. There were some repairs to a small number of pages at the rear, as shown
