SE & R JOHNSON, CABINET MAKERS, WARRINGTON, LATE NINETEENTH CENTURY HEAVILY CARVED DARK OAK BOX SETTLE, the back with carved Cavalier finials above three panels, each carved in relief with figures drinking, flanked by down swept arms carved with pheasant pattern supports, enclosing a solid, hinged seat carved with scrolls, raised on a similarly decorated panelled base centred with lion masks and flanked by floral swags above paw feet, 44” (111.8cm) high, 61 ½” x 24” (156.2cm x 61cm), embossed gilt metal label to underside of seat C/R- left Cavalier finial badly chipped, full length split to seat, two splits to central panel, one full length and open, ends of both pheasant beaks missing, old damage
