IMPRESSIVE PAIR OF CARVED ZITAN THRONE CHAIRS
19TH/20TH CENTURY
the openwork backs carved leaping carp amongst lotus pods, centred by roundel panels carved in low relief with ducks in a pond, the simulated bamboo openwork arms carved with cranes and crashing waves above generously proportioned rectangular panelled seats, raised on gently bowed legs with a shaped frieze with further densely carved decoration of cranes, lotus pods and waves supported on peripheral stretchers
