"Exd JM" (JOHN MOORE) CENSOR MARK; Fine 29 Mar. 1814 EL (unsealed) from POW "Francois Pignatel" to the Mayor of Marseille endorsed "Procuration" (Power of Attorney) being a witnessed document proving that Pignatel was alive and asking that some debts that he owed as a crew member of the Pirate ship 'Le Jonqueux' be paid on his behalf from the "Caisse des Invalides" or prize money due to him. Sent from "Dartmoor Prison Royale pres Plymouth" with a mainly very fine rare Handstruck Dartmoor Prison Censor's "Exd JM" (John Moore) on the lower flap and was charged "12" (postage from Calais) on delivery. Napoleon abdicated (6 Apr. 1814) while this letter was in transit. Exhibition Quality.
