St. Thomas. 1876-77 Covers to Mrs Thomas in Falmouth, three with "H.M.S SHAH" printed on the flap, three covers from St. Thomas with "C51" cancels franked 6d grey plate 15 + 1/- plate 12 (2 covers) or 6d grey plate 15 single + pair (two covers "via Panama", another with piece torn from upper left corner), a fourth cover endorsed "via Magellan" with 1/- plate 12 cancelled upon arrival in London. Also other covers from Gibraltar or London both franked 2½d. H.M.S "Shah" was the flagship of the Pacific Station; on May 29th 1877 she fought an action against the Peruvian ship "Huascar" during the Battle of Pacocha. (6).
