William I, now thought to be William II, silver penny PAX type, Spink 1257, obverse reads:- +PILELM RE [rest is off the flan], note the unusual rendering of the King's name, the reverse is a die duplicate of BMC 1065, pl.XXVII, 1 and appears a normal London, die reading:- +GOLDPINE ON PINCL [the 'NE' and 'NC' are ligulate], Winchcombe Mint, moneyer Goldwine [there is only one other Goldwine recorded in J.J.N. at Dover, unusual features of the obverse die is the treatment of the crown which harks back to earlier types, the sceptre looks engraved, as do other parts, into the die, this seemingly a local product, good metal, even dark tone, rare, VF, a faint hairline crack at 8 o'clock.
