JM Barrie Peter and Wendy - First Edition, first impression. The first novel form version of 'Peter Pan' undated but Published 1911, Hodder & Stoughton. Post 8vo (8inches x 4.75 inchess); pp [viii] + 267. Printer's name at foot of final numbered page. Twelve monochrome plates by FD Bedford including the frontispiece and illustrated title page. Publisher's original green cloth with gilt lettering and decoration to front of Peter Pan sitting on a rock, flanked by two mermaids with a crocodile beneath, all surrounded by a border of vines, fairies and candles. The spine richly decorated in gilt with an image of Captain Hook and two mermaids. Gilt on spine is bright, slightly dulled on the front. Points of corners rubbed, ends of spine only slightly rolled. Browning to endpapers and some foxing to preliminary pages and very occasionally to text pages. Plates clean. Contemporary gift inscription to first free endpaper with 1913 date.
