A DETAILED BUILDER'S STYLE MIRROR-BACKED HALF-MODEL FOR THE 'PROTEUS'-CLASS COLLIER U.S.S. CYCLOPS [1910]
the 68in. carved and laminated hull with propeller and rudder, lined wooden decks with silvered and copper fittings, including open bridge, coal grabs rigged into gantries, companionways, stayed funnel, ventilators, engine room lights, covered lifeboats and davits, capstan and other details, mounted on mirror within wooden case with end mirrors and plates -- 22 x 75 x 8in. (56 x 190.5 x 20cm.)
The second of four 'Proteus' Class colliers built for the US Navy by William Cramp & Sons in Philadelphia, she displaced 19,230 tons. She disappeared without trace in January 1918 en route to Baltimore.
